The Power of Fresh Paint: Living + Dining Room Edition

Today I'm taking you inside our living room and dining room to show you once again the power of fresh paint. In an earlier post I shared the power of fresh paint in our Foyer which you can read about here. Fresh paint truly can transform any room and instantly make it feel like a new home! If you want to give your house a little facelift for a really affordable price, then paint it (Semi-gloss please!).

Before we painted the living and dining room, they were a beige almost yellowish color. Not terrible, but not great. The previous owners of our home also used a cheap flat paint, which leaves the walls with a lot of marks and scuffs. So over time they look beat up. That is why I always use a semi-gloss paint for the most part. It's so much better and looks more high end in my opinion. Here are the before pictures:

We went with the most perfect gray color from Sherwin Williams called Repose Gray. I cannot recommend this gray enough! A true gray color is hard to come by. Usually grays will have too much blue or beige undertones. But not Repose Gray. It's a true perfect gray color. At first I was worried it was going to be to dark, but it wasn't. If you need a gray, this is it! Here are the after photos:

We still have more changes to make to these areas but it's starting to come along nicely. Next up will probably be either a new chair or loveseat in the living room.

Have you ever painted your house before? What are some of your favorite paint colors?
